I was driving back to Glasgow on the Ayr bypass last night (30 april) and am curious about the aircraft that took off at 2020 local
At first I thought it was a Hercules, but then saw had low wings. A notable feature was the long boom behind the fin.
Does anyone have any ideas what it was?
thanks

PIK quite often sees navy support aircraft call in during Neptune Warrior. I got some great shots during one a few years ago…

Whats Neptune Warrior? is that the Nato thing where they all meet up for a training etc.
James
They meet up 3 times a year of scotland and just attack ships etc with loads of air assests later in the year they may do some amphip work etc. The Americans some times send a carrier to play.

It certainly is, involves about six countries and is predominately a ship exercise if I am not mistaken.

There was a P3 Orion climbing over Glasgow around 2030 last night heading north from Prestwick direction. (possibly 3296 Norwegian AF which was at PIK earlier in the day, and was indeed, participating in Neptune Warrior)
