Is it better today or was it better in the 90’s.
I remember the 90’s having many L1011’s and DC10’s at Manchester for Caledonian, Monarch etc and MD83’s for Airtours.
Now in late 00’s we have just MyTravel hair dryer’s all blue 738’s with smiley symbols and a load of take overs.

I’ve always preferred VC10s and Constellations myself………. :diablo:
Yes, yes, yes, Lance. You were around during those golden years, I know. I still haven’t quite recovered from my little fit of jealousy when you were winding me up about that the other day! 😀

I traveled many times on BA 732’s to GVA, DUS and NCE, from MAN.
The era of the British Airways Manchester titles in the vain attempt to persuade the travelling public that they cared about being at MAN.
Who remembers BA’s Athens service with a 757? OR Northwest’s 2 weekly 747F service. Or the occasion of a KE 747F operating for SV!?!
Out of the list Glen supplied, I can barely recollect ever seeing YR-IRE (RO IL62) or C-FCRA (CP 747) gracing MAN, but he did miss the Transamerica 747s (N741/2/3TV) and in 1978 PA and TW 707s (one week it was PA, the following TW with that pattern repeating)

Still got European air charters 737-200s going strong infact were getting one into NCL weekly come the summer!!
Yes but I was talking about the days when at MAN, you had BA 732’s going on European flights, Ryanair 732’s blasting off and Britannia 732’s.
I traveled many times on BA 732’s to GVA, DUS and NCE, from MAN.
And i’m not from NCL so I won’t see them anyway 😉

Call it what you will, it still doesn’t in any way change the fact that 707’s and DC-10’s are way better looking than 738’s! 😀

This is called competition, cost cutting measures, and updating with the times.

The halcyon days of the fifties and sixties was my favourite time with all the old piston engine airliners and the excitment and anticipation of the first jets like the Comet and the 707 coming into service
