I think we have been talking way too much about the usual Airbus or Boeings – so let’s have a little chat about Embraer 170/190.
Seems like Embraer is about to pull off another success story with these birds. Having the operators lined up nicely in queue to get their planes it all looked very nice for Embraer. But lately I’ve been reading numerous reports and opinions, mainly from colleagues working for JetBlue or FAA, that these birds seems to have teething problems.
Electronics are said to require several restarts per day in order to work properly.
Cargo doors are badly designed in such a way that they easily get damaged – and what’s even worse – seems to indicate being latched while in fact they aren’t. The latter has caused this report from FAA:

The Embraer 190 is now named Embraer 180 amongst the JetBlue technicians since this represents the number of degrees the plane has to turn after leaving the gate – in order to get back and fix various problems that prevents them from taking off…
So what do you guys know or say? Is it some small glitches and teething problems we see or have the guys at Embraer scr*wed up?
Regards,
Cliff

Having flown on the e195 four times from Belfast to Birmingham, this is a very comfortabl:) e aircraft. I do know that within 5 weeks of operations starting the cabin water boiler had already packed up

Call me cynical, but I think that now the larger Embraer types are starting to impact on the sales of Boeing and Airbus in this sector of the market we’ll be hearing a lot more about “issues” like this……

Well were going to see them much more regularly now, with Flybe taking delivery of 12 initially. They seem to be a great product, but they have been developing some problems, like any new aircraft do.
I believe my local, MAN, will see 2 based from next year, an hopefully i’ll be able to fly on one soon in the States!
I like the Embraer product, espeically their ERJ series, which are nifty little planes!
Cheers
