Thai has dropped it’s non-stop service to the US from Bangkok due to low load factors and high fuel costs, intead opting for a one-stop service through Seoul or Shanghai
The airline purchased 4 A340-500’s for the non-stop service but the 215 seat layout left little room for viable margin on the route
They previously operated a one-stop 400-seat 744 service via Osaka to the US

Thai are supposed to be selling 4 A345s, yes A345s to South African, maybe to replace there A340-200s…
But the carriers atm who fly them to the US – Singapore, Thai, Emirates, Etihad don’t seem to be very happy with there A345s. I think Emirates have started using theres to Zurich now but and Emirates also have a 77W flight via Hamburg (I think) to the US…
I know Emirates use them on their non-stop Dubai – Sydney service
