I didn’t say BA were not interested. Please read posts more carefully before making innacurate presumptions.
You’re absolutely correct, you didn’t ‘say’ it.
All part of Airbuses efforts to woo new customers.
Doesn’t really mean much in the way of seeing which way the long await BA longhaul order will go. It doesn’t even mean BA are considering the A380 either.Airbus want BA. So they’ll give them weekly A380 joy rides if they think it’ll help.
You did, however, strongly suggest this is purely a case of Airbus attempting to impress BA as opposed to actual interest from BA themselves. The general implication from your words and the tone in which they were expressed being that BA have no wish to operate the A380.
Please consider your words and how they may be interpreted more carefully before making inaccurate presumptions. 🙂

I think BA are genuinely interested, if they thought the aircraft was the white elephant some people are hoping for they would be showing no interest at all. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it might just be possible that the airlines are privvy to slightly more information than the legions of armchair CEOs and aircraft designers that populate this and other forums have access to. Personally I’m waiting for the reaction to the sure to be announced 787 blip! This mini rant is brought to you by the latter ‘D’ and several glasses of beer, is aimed at no-one in particular and everyone in general!

BA have never ruled the A380 out, nor have they expressed any firm interest in it either. What do we have here… ? Oh yes, a test drive.. 😀
Can’t wait for the 787 blip either, and all the other blips that come along with new engineering projects and designs. They sure look good on paper, every last one of them…;)

To all:

My post was in response to the thread title which is implying this A380 visit is for BA to evaluate the A380, which I pointed out might not necessarily be the case.
The A380 is making a lot of visits to many places. This might just be part of that program.
Like the 772LR went to all places.
Expect much the same with the 748i and 787

Let’s hypothetically say BA might be interested in acquiring the A380. How many would they require and on what sector would they be used? And could a company like BA really fit two VLA types in their fleet?
Don’t know what the logistics are but as far as fitting in two types of heavies… it hasn’t perturbed the likes of Qantas or Lufthansa or Singapore…and the two routes that come to mind would be Heathrow – JFK and the Kangaroo route to the eastern ports of Australia

Calm down,Sandy!!:D (don’t want to have to send the medics up to Fife hehe) Don’t worry about those nasty inbreds that would dare buy the 380, at least not till they sign the dotted line :dev2:
Information posted for those who may wish to go see the super jumbo when it re-visits LHR….that’s all.
