Following the cancellation of the last 4 firm orders by an unspecified airline (thought to be Philippine Airlines), Boeing has now closed the order book permenantly on the 747-400 passenger variants, although it does not effect the 747-400F/ERF program yet.

I think it was a forgone conclusion when sales over the past few years have dwindled to a trickle

It was indeed Phillippine AL who changed the order to 777’s.
