Schedule Change

Last Friday I bought a ticket Manchester to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi on Etihad. The day after, I received an email detailing a schedule change on the inbound AUH – MAN namely changing flight EY313 to EY15.

The departure time has only changed by a few minutes (and somehow the flying time is shorter) but the travel agent cannot explain to me why the flight has been changed.

Can anyone enlighten me?

A couple of years ago, bmi called me to explain that some flights I had booked had been affected by schedule changes – one was by about an hour, the other by just 5 minutes!

But you’ll have a great flight with Etihad. I’ve not done the A330-200, but the 777-300ER operates the Abu Dhabi to Bangkok flight. Inflight entertainment is excellent (on-demand) and the service is pretty good, too.

Usually schedule changes are for little things. The aircraft may arrive from another destination into AUH which has slot restrictions and they need to have a minimum time to turn the aircraft around.

Maybe the extra few minutes is to accomidate transfers which are popular but the exsisting schedule may not allow sufficent connecting time when people see that it can put the off.
