New Airbus orders, and A330F launch

Airbus have announced some new orders…

Undisclosed customer: 5 x A320
Private customer: 1 x A319
Middle East Airlines: 4 x A319; 4 x A330-200
AirBlue: 4 x A320
Private customer: 1 x A319
Undisclosed: customer: 3 x A319; 7 x A320; 5 x A330-200
Undisclosed customer: 9 x A319; 18 x A320.

In addition, the manufacturer has officially launched the A330F today, and there have been 3 commitments to the type over the last week.

US lessor, Intrepid, has signed a LOI for 20 aircraft, Flyington Freighters has signed a firm order for the 6 announced last year, and a third, undisclosed operator, has signed for a further 6, they hope to announce this soon, as it wasn’t concluded in time for the official launch today.

I presume, the lump under the nose is to keep the aircraft level during loading , so the pallets can’t start move.
I don’t know, if the nose gear will be moved forward or if that lump is just extra weight.

If so, it reminds me very much of building aircraft models… and that funny movie of the A350 toy posted by Sandy nearly a year ago. 😀 😀

This news comes moreorless on the same day that news that B has beaten A on orders for 2006. Is A trying to make up for the ‘loss’ by starting the year well? (i’m not trying to slate A, btw) Lots of undisclosed customers though…

Its great that the A330F is finally being launched – can’t wait to see this aircaft in service…
