Should SA go ahead with its planned purchase of the newest program at Airbus, what sectors could we expect these aircraft to serve on? Could we expect them to be used on European routes, either Paris and or London in particular, maybe as a second daily flight to both cities.
As well, what aircraft does SA currently use on the Singapore-Paris sector and what are the frequencies? Would anyone also know the flight time between those two cities?
Cheers to anyone who could anser those few questions for me 🙂

I think that SQ will defintely go in for the A350X in the future , However they have 787’s on order and if they like the 787-10 ( When and not If…..) then they would limit the A350’s to the bigger -1000’s to eventually start taking over the T7 routes in the future however the 1000 is post 2014 IIRC so they have plenty of time to order .

SIA seem very commmited to the A350XWB program, and have been all through the process. As interim capacity they intend to take 19x A330s, which would suggest that the A350 is primarily going to be used within Asia, as I expect the A330s will provide services on short/medium length high demand services, such as Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo etc, and probably to Australasia.
Australiasia is a major earner for SIA, the operate daily flights into Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and twice daily services to Melbourne and Sydney. I do not think that the 330s will be utalised on these routes since the capacity is required to cover the traffic. The 772’s operating on Sydney and Melbourne are being taken over by the longer 773’s as SIA for most part of the year has an exceptional payload from both these cities. Although i do agree with you that the 330s may extensivly be used to places such as Bangkok, KL, Tokyo. SQ currently uses 777s for both BKK and KL. The 330s can serve a similar role in the SQ fleet as they serve in the Qantas fleet, high capacity feeder routes.
I’m afraid it’s delivery has been delayed a little too long for a second daily service to London, probably by about 25 years or more, currently SIA operates thrice daily from SIN to LHR, all with 747-400s. They would be highly unlikely to place the A350 onto this route as it is earmarked for capacity increases, rather than reductions, through the introduction of A380s.
The A380 will eventually take over routes such as LHR, CDG and FRA. While also taking over LAX and SFO. This will free up some of the 777 fleet for SQ while giving them oppurtunity to slowly phase out some of the 747s. I have heard that SQ is looking for expansion within US with flights to places such as Houstan, Boston and Miami while also looking for new routes in South America and Europe.

Thanks to all who replied, it is much appreciated. However, I do have one more question.
Will Singapore Airlines use the A380 on the CDG sector as well as LHR or will they be assigned to other routes? Cheers! 🙂

787s for Asia
A350XWB for longer (including MAN)

To actually answer some of your questions,Shadow:
Very likely imo that SIA would use it on European routes, it has easily the range for SIN-LHR
Currently the SIN-CDG route is a once daily B777 arrives around 7am leaves around 12:30 the flight is 13 hours 35 mins (6667 miles)

I think the question should be rephrased to read:
“If Airbus finaly stick to a design and go ahead with the A350, then manage to deliver them”
