Aer Lingus new service to Spain

Pleasant news for breakfas on the local news. Aer Lingus will fly in march from my local airport to Dublin twice a week. I am happy but a bit surprised.
The local council has a deal with Ryanair, and they had formely shown interesnt in flying between Santiago and Dublin.

So, has Aer Lingus decided to put up a fight with Ryanair?. The green airline will also fly to Lithuania in June (other FR destination). I don´t know if Aer Lingus has decided to commit suicide or simply at the end Mr O´Leary has been able to absorb them and Aer Lingus is making Ryanair flights.

Anyway, as far as I am concerned in March………………..hello Dublin I am going. 🙂

I have no doubt that that EI will do well in Lithuania. Latvia has 3 airlines flying between it and Ireland and there are more Lituanians living in DUB.

TE are the ones who are going to struggle as their fares are really expensive. BT will survive as they have done on RIX but will no doubt feel the pinch.

Have EI left it too late to jump onto the Lithuania bandwagon?

I know there’s presently a large number of people travelling between the 2 countries, but can it sustain 4 Airlines.

Yes true. In any case, I want to see what FR will be doing here next next season. If they had planned to announce a SCQ-DUB route, I wonder if they will launch it anyway despite the number of passengers here is limited. I am looking forward to sampling Aer Lingus. Never flew on them.

I suppose they will be using A320 for the route or any Avro/bae from City Jet maybe?

EI will operate to VNO where as FR operate to KUN.

The new EI route will be in direct competition with TE and BT who had a much better frequencey but times are awful, they are real red eye flights.
