BA/Bmed Baku and the A320/1

Hi y’all,

Could well be flying to Baku in the new year with BA.

After checking out the BA website it appears the flight is operated by Bmed, which has raised a couple of questions for me which I hope someone can help with:-

1) What routes do Bmed fly for BA?
2) What aircraft type is used on the Baku run. System says A320 but is that a generic A320 series code? (in other words, could I get on one of their A321s.)
3) I presume there is no difference in product between franchise and BA mainline?

Anyone’s experience of Bmed would be welcome.

Thanks,

Single generic fleet type, different cost structure etc. etc.

Now that is a bonus; didn’t expect to get a PTV on a narrow bodied airbus!

I’m expecting to be on an A320 to be honest, can’t imagine pax numbers being so numerous to Azerbaijan, but you never know – am yet to travel on any A321 so it would be a first.

Back to PTVs, the website says all new aircraft will have PTVs, nothing about retro-fitting old, so I guess there could be a chance of getting the old drop down LCD format?

Interesting operation isn’t it, reading the website. Wonder how Bmed can make these destinations work when BA couldn’t?

BMed operate as a franchise carrier for BA (obviously, hence the booking). They operate to 15 destinations in the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe.

Although they use A320/321 aircraft, they offer the equivelent of BA’s Club World and World Traveller services. They have been rolling out Seat back PTV (private TV) in traveller (this must be complete by now) and AVOD PTV in Club World, which obviously you wouldn’t find on a BA A320/321 used in Europe.

They have a website, www.flybmed.com, and you can find out about fleet/on board service through the About Us section (FAQ for onboard service). They also ahve a section on destinations. They still refer you back to BA for the actual schedules though.
