The rail link from Glasgow Central station to Glasgow Airport was today given formal approval in a vote by MSP’s at the Scottish Parliament. The process to appoint a contractor now begins. The new link is expected to be operational in just under 4 years time…

Great news for GLA, but, 4 years to lay a tiny bit of track is shocking, added to the years of inane discussion to get to this point, same type of project started in Japan/Malaysia/Korea etc…at the same time would have been celebrating some billion passenger milestone or something by this time 😀
Too much talking not enough doing 😡 😡
(hoping to see the M74 to Kingston bridge link, started before i was born, completed before i pop off 😮  )
Having looked at the plans, I agree 4 years to lay 8 miles of rail inbetween an existing route seems a long time…?
They’re even planning to drop the M8 crossover bridge in as a single span, one piece structure using big cranes, which you’d think to be the most complex part of the project? I guess there’s a lot more ‘red tape’ engineering to be completed first of all ?
