3 BA 767's grounded

Just heard on the ITV news that 3 BA 767’s have been grouned due to radioactive contamination. British Airways has confirmed that 3 B767’s are being investigated by forensic scientists.
2 Aircraft are at LHR now and one is in Moscow as it was due back into LHR about now but has been grounded,

the contaminated aircraft are confirmed to have visited the following destinations recently: Frankfurt, Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Stokholm, Dusseldorf, Larnaca and Moscow.

sorry can’t get any more info at the moment as none of the news websites are updated with it on yet

I was wondering about that too… Perhaps they found concentrated hotspots of radiation ? Incidentally I gather all the planes involved are now back in service.

BBC News 24 reporting one of the UK is back in service whilst one is undergoing further tests etc. The Moscow one has arrived back in the UK.

Is BA conducting screening of staff working on the aircraft or have you been told to contact NHS Direct?

We have an in-house health service department that we can contact for advice, reassurance or to discuss any symptoms should they occur, although that is VERY unlikely as we are talking minute amounts of radiation.

i maybe wrong here…

But when planes fly at high altitude, that they are subject to radiation from the sun/moon/ozone etc etc???

Until the test on each aircraft proves it is that polonium (sp?) 210 then it would be safe to assume, that the tests carried out just picked up normal background radiation that is everywhere??

I flew on BZHA 3 times the following week, and it’s a pain getting to sleep at night with this green glow I’m emitting.

That’s caused by the catholic guilt amongst cabin staff denied the right to wear a cross round their necks… 😉

I understand BA weren’t sure which 767s were involved, until they turned out all the hangar lights…

The plot thickens im hearing a 777 is grounded aswell.

And BA only fly 767’s to DME, so a 777 would not be involved 🙂

Maybe the Photographer was at work or something and didn’t have access to the original.

Yep, the guy owns the copyright to the photo so hopefully they had permission, seems like a proffesional photographer so will probably charge a fee for the use.

Doesn’t mean it’s nicked, atall! By the sounds of it they had to get the shots pretty quick – Maybe the Photographer was at work or something and didn’t have access to the original.

Get ready for reporters at heathrow tonight then hehe

Just on ITV news. Did you see the photo they used? It was nicked from airliners.net, still had airliners.net written on it!

I think that’s actually due to a strike in Tel Aviv meaning the flight cannot depart:
