DUB-AMS route needs competition

The cheapest return fare i can find on aerlingus.com is €106!,and that’s for february, the further away i go i.e.march,april,may the prices increase!.Aer Lingus can charge high fares because they’re is no direct competition on the route & AMS is a fairly popular destination form dublin.I can’t believe that KLM or transavia aren’t on the route.I know that transavia had a rotterdam service last year, but i believe there is more than enough demand for another carrier to survive on the AMS-DUB route.

If cityjet were to serve AMS,which i can’t think of any reason why they couldn’t successfully then that would serve to lower EI’s prices as you’ve said.Nearly every student(like myself)wants to got AMs but for totally different reasons to myself šŸ˜€ ,so there is definitly a demand.

Rumours are circulating that cityjet are to start a 5-daily flight to AMS on a codeshare with KLM (Like they do with AF on the CDG route) with their New Avro RJ85s. I know that Cityjet, being a full-service carrier, will not be that cheap but at least they might take the business travellers from Aer Lingus and provoke them to reduce their fares????

I must state that Ireland is amazingly underserved to AMS when you consider that nearly every airport in the UK has at least one LCC serving AMS. I hope someone like Transavia/Air Berlin could rectify this! šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰

EUR106/GBP70 for a return is a very realistic low fare for a route of that length – its typically only the Ryanairs and the easyJets that play the headline grabbing really low fares, and even they’re not available in large quantities. Go back a few years and a trip on a route of that length would likely have cost you at least double that, if not more.

Must say I’m shocked KLM are not on this route! I just presumed they flew DUB-AMS.

€106 that is very cheap. When I went in August I paird €130 and that was cheap enough. Fair enough it could be slightly cheap Im flying Berlin in December and got that for the same price.

I found a fare of 103 euro (7feb day return including taxes). For a market with “no competition” is really a damn good fare! Especially when considering day returns are normally considerably more expensive then a return spread over a few days.

You could of course always try Ryanair to EIN and take the train between EIN and AMS. Wont be much cheaper though since you will need a train ticket.
