Excel to Kos

I’m off to Kos Next week, October 5th. I’m flying with Excel from Newcastle. I don’t have the flight number to hand, its a morning flight, about 08:30. (This is a last minute thing I’ve been added to, so I really don’t have the foggiest of the exact flight details). Though I imagine there aren’t that many Excel flights to Kos from Newcastle each day

Does anyone know what equipment is likely to be waiting for me at the gate?

I’m glad you enjoyed the old bird. She was the best 73’s we ever had, I was very sad to see her go.

I was on the NCL base when you flew on her, but didn’t do your flight 😮

She was a great machine. Faultless for us mere SLF. OK, no real IFE… but hey… all the IFE I need is an MP3 player, a pair of sunglasses and the window I sit next too.

Flew home on G-XLAD (XLA4079) and as mentioned… a hoot of a flight! Great aircraft too. You can really notice to difference in noise levels between the 400 and the 800 (not surprising, but this was my first time on both types)

Wow… what a hoot the return flight was!

The Captain was incredible… he made his briefing a laugh and it realy settled a lot of the uneasy flyers onboard. He was brilliant. Had an irish twang to his voice too.

I can’t recall his name, which is a pitty. But I’ll dig around Pprune to answer that and make sure he gets the praise he deserves!

I got the 737-400 TF-ELY from Newcastle. Departed bang on time and arrived punctually in Kos. Great flight, Great service, clean and comfy aircraft…. oh and lovely food! More than I was expecting from Excel! Full trip reports will be filed upon my return. No photos of the aircraft but several from inflight.

I went out on XLA 4078 on 28/09/06 to Kos and it was TF-ELY, but returned on 12/10/06 and it was G-OXLB (B737-800) which IMHO was nicer plane to fly in with better IFE.
The outbound flight was delayed for 1.5 hours as one of the passengers required an oxygen bottle, but they could not locate one for him.
The pilot said the party of 6 would be offloaded if they could not locate the oxygen kit for him, but luckily they did.

Glad you’re liking your holiday 😎

I have taken lots of shots of aircraft at CFU and ZTH and encountered no problems whatsover so you should be fine. 🙂

Yer, ZTH is very good and safe to do so. Never been to Kos so can’t comment, but when I was at SKG earlier this year there were big signs saying ‘No photos’, which was wise to obey given the military presence there. 😉

Hello all

Just a quick visit via the hotel’s internet corner to say it’s lovely and hot here on Kos. Very quiet due to it being end of season and full of Germans! (I feel right at home 🙂 ).

Will try and get so external shots on the homeward leg, as you get bused out to the plane here in Kos.. (come to think of it, same for in Newcastle in my case).

Ciao for now

If the KGS flight in question is on a thursday, it will be operated by XLA 737-800, as TF-ELY is returning to lessor at beginning of october. The only other NCL-KGS flight is operated by Flyjet late on saturday nights.

On flyjet, I see they have swapped the based unit from EA to EB!

It is on a Thursday!

Woot! an 800. Lovely 🙂

TF-ELY, the B737-400 is actually a very nice bird to fly on.

Lots of noise!!!

Can’t be any louder than a 732… now that is a flying machine 🙂

I like noise… its all part of the experience. I can never understand those people on A.net who whine about noise.

Whatever it will be, it’ll be a first for me.
Either my first 738, 734 or my first PW powered 757.

I’m looking forward to this!

Should be Boeing 737-400 TF-ELY or B757-200 OH-LBO (Finnair c/s only). OH-LBS (Finnair with XLA c/s) has already returned to HEL
