If VLM are looking to diversify and for a route where they don’t have to compete with surface transport, then look no further than LCY – BHD which was dumped by Flybe a couple of years back – with sensible fares and timings this could easily work.

I think VLM are looking at ways to diversify and MAN-ANR is a good option. I think they are having a harder time on their UK domestic routes since Virgin rail have started to improve their services. LPL-LCY is operating at 3 per day(and no weekend serice) and I believe MAN-LCY has also reduced. On the LPL run 3 per day is not a great choice of departures for business passengers and I fear the route will suffer.

VLM launches new flights from Manchester
VLM Airlines will launch a non-stop service from Manchester to Antwerp on October 30.

The carrier, which already flies to London City from Manchester and Liverpool, will serve Antwerp with two return flights each weekday, and one return service each Sunday.

VLM Airlines’ existing service from London City to Antwerp will also be enhanced, with the addition of three return flights each weekday from September 18. This will mean a total of seven flights each weekday, along with two flights on Saturdays and one each Sunday.

VLM Airlines will be introducing an additional three Fokker 50 aircraft to operate these new services, bringing its total fleet size to 19 Fokker 50 aircraft.
