Thanks i know what the pay is and i dont mind.
Its £4,500 now and pay increases and then after 18 months i will become a full sales consultant and be on £9,900+ i get commission and loads of benifits i dont mind about the pay because its what i want to do. Plus i can go on within the company once i finish the apprenticeship which is what i would like to do.

Hey,

Hope you know the wage they will be paying you for your 38.5+ hours a week. It’s not all its cracked up to be! I don’t mean to try and put you off but I am sure you will find out. Expect £75-£100 per week which roughly equates to £1.94 – £2.59 hourly rate.

That’s the advantage of companies running Modern Apprenticeship programmes. The employer can call the employee an “apprentice” and pay pretty much what it likes. But I’m sure he will be getting commission for any sales, which would bump up the pay slightly.

I remember after my A-Levels I applied to Thomas Cook in Reading for a full-time position (not an apprenticeship) and had two ‘girls’ (neither were especially bright) and to my surprise, I didn’t get the job. The pay was something mad like £9,000 a year plus commission and since I had done just about every package holiday on the planet, I was adament that I would get the job. It took 6 weeks for the company to write to me to thank me for attending the “recent interview” and to explain that the decision might have been “disappointing”.

I think not being offered the job was a blessing in disguise as I instead went to university and have now completed my degree.

Best of luck with it anyway. I’m sure that if you give it a few months to gain experience, you could always move onto another agent and get a better paid position with them.

By any chance are u going to Blackpool on the Travel Agent conference in March?

Condolences to all Travel Agents attending. Is the theme “where not to send people”?
