Hi Guys,
There has been an accident on the runway at Aberdeen, a City Star Dornier 328 has ran off the end of the runway!
Just heard KLM1449 on the scanner, diverting into Edinburgh because he only has 5 minutes of holding fuel!
Cheers,
Sam

If the report is an accurate account the inescapable conclusion, from the implication that the pilot knew on final there was possibly going to be a problem, is that it was some combination of problem with brakes / flaps / props, all of which involve hydraulics.
I understand your concern, but my inference reflects no discredit on the pilot and was comment on the news report, not idle speculation.

Moggy, please do not infer that this might be a Hydraulic problem, that is just pure uninformed speculation on your part. Its the AAIB’s job to carry out the investigation and publish the incident report.
Whats wrong with someone purely just saying what was written in a newspaper? I agree that it is the AAIB’s job to find out what went on, but I don’t think there is anything wrong in what Moggy said.

Press quoted an unnamed passenger as saying the Captain told them to assume the brace position before landing (I bet half of them hadn’t a clue since they had opted not to read the safety card  ).
Would seem to indicate hydraulics problem.
All the usual caveats about journalistic accuracy should be assumed.

X9’s evening flight t OSL has operated, however they are utilising an E120 Brasilia for the flight (Bandeirante’s bigger brother!)

Found this on a.net this morning: http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=1064849&TopOfYest=yes – doesn’t appear to be much damage, if any.

There was a City Star flight t/f OSL yesterday evening X9 105/6.
It was though operated by a DO328 of Scot Airways, which positioned to DND after the inbound leg.

X9 have suspended ops until the AAIB enquiry is carried out & a reason for the overrun established.
Suppose they had no choice, as don’t yet know if fault is just to that particular a/c or could affect the other 2 they have in their fleet.
I hope this doesn’t affect their ops permanently, they have built up a loyal clientel.
Just had a play with the website, and whilst I can’t book flights for the next few days, all appears normal for later next week on the sales front now.

I passed the airport at around 10am today, as saw the Aircraft where it stopped.
One thing that I did see was two Easyjet aircraft. One was at the terminal operating the morning flight to Luton, whereas the other was sat near the Flying school. I did realise that on flight departures last night that passengers on the evening flight to Luton had to contact the airline. So I wonder if the crew ran out of hours or something, because of the delay?
Just realised that this other Easyjet aircraft (it was a B737) departed Aberdeen at 13:11 as EZY9148.

Five minutes of holding fuel, is that the norm?

Evening gents from Aberdeen!
Can confirm D328 of City Star f SVG landed 34 & ran off other end, stuck in grass 100-150m beyond 16 threshold.
Pleased to say no injuries & a/c itself OK believe, just very stuck.
A/C diverting, no more fixed-wing inbounds tonight I suspect.
