European 787 operators

Icelandair is having a few 787’s. I think they have got 3 firm orders with 5 options, but I can’t be bothered to check.

It has already been mentioned that they have ordered it, but First Choice are set to be the launch customer for the 787 in Europe! 😀

Yes, but LOT will recieve their aircraft first.

with regards to Tui and 737NGs

Hapagfly have planty of wingletted 737-800’s, ao why would they want to replace those, they’re realtively new… So the likelyhood is surely more of the same, for easy interchange between the group?

Yup, LOT are getting 7 B787-8 with an option for 7 787-9

For delivery in 2008.

I would expect 787’s to replace both the 75′ and 76′. I don’t think the Fokkers will be that permanent.

I think we will see an order for 737’s (Either the -800 or the new -900 extended range version that Excel have gone for), and two different variant of 787.

I think Sandy’s right – TUI are a big Boeing customer so Boeing will be doing some big discounts to keep them. It would be a huge triumph for Airbus to get this order, but Boeing will pull out all the stops to keep it.

I’m not sure what will be order if indeed what I’m hearing has any truth to it.

One can’t rule out Airbus penchant for persuading 737 operators to go the way of the A320. And if they manage that with TUI, then their foot is in the door to peddle the A350 in whichever form the finaly decide to make it.

The 787 has no real relation to the 767 in terms of parts, pilots, maintenance, engines, etc. It has no more advantage that the A350 in these regards. However, its trump card right now is its economics (Yes, projected! for you pedants :p )

All in all, if the TUI group makes a joint order for all its sibsiduary airlines… theres no telling which way they’ll go. Though personaly I do see more 737NGs, particularly the new 737-900ER to replace the 757s, and 787s.

The current collective TUI fleet doesn’t hold out much hope for a future Airbus order, does it?

And no B737 later than the -200 series can rightly be called a “Classic”. 😉

LCAL & ILFC have purchased some for leasing, although it’s not yet clear who to.

I think the only two European airlines to order the 787 are Blue Panorama and First Choice.
