Hi,
Just a quick question that I can’t seem to find an answer to…
Does anybody happen to know when exactly the new airport currently under construction in Bangkok will open? I know it is supposed to be this year some time, but not exactly sure when.

Is the current BKK the one with the golf course?
It certainly is – the one between the two runways and nothing to stop players roaming onto the runways. But unless I’m mistaken, it’s exclusively for the of the military? Is that true or did I just dream it?

Ha! Thanks for the story, and Chris, thanks for the answer/link.
I’m there in October and was hoping that it would be the new airport. It’s new location should decrease journey times into the city. But Bangkok’s Don Muang is in a sad state. Although it boasts all of the facilities of just about every other major international airport, they are quite dated now and in desperate need of replacement.
I’m looking forward to it.

When I visited Thai’s head office in February this year, they had a big counter over the doors annoucing the time to run until the new airport opened. It read 128 days, so many hours and so many minutes. The hillarious thing was that it was counting upwards, increasing all the time rather than decreasing. So the airport was already 128 days late opening. I’m amazed that they left this counter running.

PS: Sorry, I have no idea when it will actually open!
