While I enjoyed the day….
I was a bit miffed with the reorganised parking and entrance arrangements, but at least the VIPs had no problems… 🙁 After all I’m only a member of the public. Luckily I also have an extremely large bladder and plenty of self control, queueing a couple of hours for a pee isn’t really acceptable at an established event of this size… There were plenty of moans and groans in the crowd…. 😡 Maybe they weren’t expecting the crowds, 50% up on last year was the figure I heard?
A few from the static to start with, I left the airfield at lunchtime (during the Reds :)) to try and get a better position, I’ll post some when I’ve sorted them out…
cheers all

I know next to nothing about helicopters, but that shot of the five of them taking off reminds me somewhat of “Apocalypse Now!” 😀

Some cracking pics there. I must admit that I didn’t like the Sea Vixen in the Red Bull colours at first but it has grown on me until at last I like it. The more I see it now the more I think it suits the shape of the aircraft. It’s amazing how quickly we come to accept things and at least she is flying which is as it should be.

The Harvard left today (monday) around 1400, the callsign was GBJST, and was headed for Thruxton.

Cheers everybody.
There were plenty of people at the western end but not many with cameras. I did intend to go to the other end but couldn’t get there with the traffic. Glad I stuck around for the big finish.

I did wander off at lunchtime (in search of a toilet! :)), and found myself in a field at the western end of the runway. Not the greatest spot but got some nice shots of the Sea Vixen and a different view of the Commando assault ‘re-supply area’.

I didn’t shoot many from the crowdline, the sun was just too difficult. The Hunter was superb though. 😀
Nice “dirty” Hunter

Nice pics. Which Harvard was it?
I am 99% sure that the board in front of the aircraft said “Thruxton” if that’s any help. Could have been G-BSJT or G-BJST?

Who drove the Vixen & Hunter?
Brian Grant did both.

Nice shots Ken,
I think Wessex Fan is right, we were all crammed in that 10 x 10 area beyond the VIP tent!

Nice pictures, I think we must all have been up past the the vip tents, anyone who left early missed a great finish! As I live in Northern Ireland, I only arrived home this evening and will post pictures when I have sorted through them!
A great show, although I was disapointed that a couple of the displays where cut short, regarding toilets etc, I think the organisers never exspected to get the crowd they got, I heard a figure of 50000 visitors!

I came from the A303 Wincanton direction, and in previous years have been parked at the Eastern edge of the airfield, but this year I think that was where the access to the VIP/Press pavilions was. 😉
