You tried panning shots? I find that a well executed photo at 1/30th is a whole lot more interesting and challenging that a well executed photo at 1/300th.
I am a great fan of panning shots, with my new lense (Sigme 70-200 2.8 EX HSM) it requires a bit more practise for really good results but with my old lense (Sigma 70-300 4.5-5.6 APO) I routinely hit 1/60th.
When are you going to AMS?
My local airport needs the right conditions for panning shots, although I’ve taken a few over the years and agree its a skill that needs practice, will be visiting AMS on 10th August for about 12 hours, just hope it doesnt rain

ISO 100 is a cracking setting for quality but sometimes cant produce a fast enough shutter speed for my liking

Excellent photos!
What does the ISO do? The higher the ISO level the blurrier the image, according to my cameras manual.
Well without being too technical, ISO can be related to “sensitivity” to light, a low number is a lot less sensitive, a high number a lot more sensitive, so, if you select a low ISO number the shutter need to stay open longer to let enough light in to produce an acceptable result, the bummer being long shutter speeds can result in blurry images due to camera shake, its preferable to use a high shutter speed or stuff will appear blurry, the down size of using a high ISO is that the picture will start to appear more “grainy”, so, its down to personal choice but I prefer to use ISO 200 under normal conditions, normal being dull and over cast at EDI, but, I have noticed that sometimes, and I mean sometimes if its sunny here (EDI) then using a low ISO is ok, but occaisionally white or very light fuselages are just obliterated, so I wanted to see by using a very fast shutter speed (by upping the ISO or sensitivity) if it would help, and my results for EDI today have shown me that stuff has come out better by adjusting the ISO, I’ve also tried “stopping” down the aperature to compensate for really sunny days but wasn’t happy with the results. Great shots! I must try out different modes on my 350D. At the moment, I am just sticking with Av mode at F8.0 and ISO 100

Nice photos.
Why did you get such a high aperture rating? F11-16 is rather high for a sunny day. F6-8 should have done nicely, with ISO 100 or 200.
I decided to select the ISO, normally I use 100 or 200, but then again its normally dull and overcast, anyway, I wanted to see just how grainy pics would come out today by “upping” the ISO, even I was surprised how good they came out and I’m using a cheap lense as well !! your’e right but like I said today was a day for a couple of experiments!! and with a trip to AMS and one to FRA coming up I’d rather experiment at EDI than those 2 nice airports!!

They look like P shots too me and they are GREAT!! I have just ordered a 350D myself – cant wait until next week for it…
Love the 1st Fokker shot – it looks like half the windows are missing!! Fingers crossed I can snag some equally good shots at EDI myself on Friday… 🙂

nice pics, i guess you use your camera on the M setting? or is it the S setting
🙂
Use it on the “P” setting , I think!! The setting where it chooses tghe shutter speed and aperature, the user chooses the ISO etc, of intrest to me was that even banging up the ISO on a sunny day didnt produce too much grain.

Nice shots as usual, EZAC in there too, EDI’s first based EZY A319. The dutch always seem to be waving. 😉
