Breighton 4th Sept

Final Breighton show for this year, don’t know where this summers gone to! Given the fog on the road up there I wasn’t too hopeful but it did burn off eventually and by mid day the sun was well and truly out. Lovely displays from all the Real Aeroplanes 😀 as usual.

Mew Gull and Active were out on the flightline all day. Although they did not perform this time, both displayed at the July Fly in.

Sorry to be pedantic, but the Active here (G-ABVE) is actually the Arrow Active II (although according to the CAA register, it’s CoA expired on the 19th November last year). It was first registered on 19th March 1932… so not doing badly for a 74-year old!

Incidently, the “48” on the tail was its number in the 1933 Kings Cup Air Race!

The only Arrow Active I (G-ABIX) was destroyed in an accident late in 1935. As far as I am aware, there are no photographs of the Mk I in existance.

I saw the mewgull parked outside but it didn’t fly in the time I was there. As for the Arrow Active I couldnt see any sign of it, maybe hidden away in a hangar?

Great pictures but was there any sign of the Mewgull or Arrow Active?

cheers everyone, Buchon did indeed look superb taxiing with the Hurricane. Septic – Breighton is well worth the trip, first time I attended was last year, not missed one of their fly ins this year! 🙂
