Just for a change today it was pretty cloudy, dull and spattered showers at LHR..hoho… anyway – here are some shots from Myrtle Avenue and the Northern perimeter fence… The great bit of today was seeing the Malaysian Hibiscus again as I saw that in SYD recently….

The best way to get there if you are walking (from say Hatton Cross tube) is to head towards the Jurys Inn hotel and then follow the road at the back of it – this will take you up past the back of the maintenance hangars and round this area – you end up at the “sheds” with the maintenance apron on your left – its a good 20-30 min walk depending on how much gear you are carrying! Be cautious though as they are working on making new pavements there at the moment and some of the construction guys get pretty ****ty if you walk on their nice new pavements!!! lol

I’ll bet it’ll be dull, grey and rainy on Friday morning, too.
Provided 27L/R are in use I’ll probably be around Myrtle Avenue so feel free to say “Hello” if you’re round there, anyone. 🙂

Time for an upgrade methinks!!! 🙂

I assume you had the zoon on maximum then when you took those shots? they are VERY blurry…
Indeed I did, because otherwise the pictures would of been a even worse than what they already are. The main reason I think is because the camera only has 4x digital zoom, so the images will are very ‘pixelated’ (sp?) and also I don’t have any manual functions on my camera, so I can’t change the shutter speed…

What sort of camera did you have then?
I had a small 4 million megapixel digital zoom camera. I have been promised by my Mum that I can have a new camera for my b’day – roll on July…hehe 😀

Thanks all….
I went to Spot 3 as described here – http://www.londonaviation.co.uk/photoguide/lhr.htm
This is a very good guide! Although I can now report for definate that the level crossing by the maintenance area is now CLOSED off and inaccessible…..you will have a long walk (circa 30 mins) from Hatton Cross to get round to the Northern perimeter…
Cheers for the info
Kevin

I was also down at LHR yesterday, as I was in town for the Sigor Ros gig at the Hammersmith Apollo in the evening, so I thought I would make a day of it – plane spotting/photography during the day, concert at night – what more can you ask for.
Please forgive me for the poor quality (nothing like the ones above!) as I do not yet have a half as decent a camera as most people…anyways, here they are. Any comments/feedback would be most appreciated, although they probably don’t deserve any:
