Scottish passengers to receive 40% subsidy.

Scottish internal travellers residing in the Highlands and Islands are to benefit from a 40% subsidy to help with the extortionate costs of air travel from these rural areas to the more populated points on the mainland.

As has been remarked upon, the cost of travel between say Stornoway and Glasgow is often more expensive than the cost of travelling between Glasgow and New York or the costas of Spain.

The discounts will only apply to bookings made from these areas and not to these areas, a matter which has provoked the ire of Scottish tourist authorities, who claim tourism could be improved with the reduction in fares within Scotland for all.
