I have booked to fly Manchester-Singapore -Perth in July. I believe that Singapore Airlines uses B777-200 on the route. Can someone advise me of the best seats to try for, I intend to have a window seat and when I return in August post an account of the flight with photos in this forum.

I didn’t find much of a difference between the 747 (which I flew on the HK-SIN leg) and the 777.
View of the ocean? When departing from Singapore for Manchester we flew over Malaysia during an electric storm which was amazing!

They only use 777s for 5 services per week, the remaining two are still with 747-400s, and I’m not sure that this is changing for the summer schedule (my colleague who would know for definite isn’t around to check with). Currently the 744s fly out on a Tuesday and Thursday and make a stop in Europe. If you’re flying on either of these days you may want to consider this type aswell. SIA used to have very good seat maps on their own website..although I think they used ot be well hidden, not sure anymore.

If you’re flying economy i’d go for the emergency over wing exit rows. Lots of leg room, but on the downside there’s only a limited view because of the wing…….what do you want leg room or a view of the ocean???????

Singapore Airlines
I flew MAN-SIN-SYD 2 years ago, the service was top notch. 🙂
Don’t know much about the best seat, but if it was me I would sit towards the back but not right at the back, if that makes sence and try and avoid sitting near the bulkheads as that’s usually for the little brats. :dev2:
If you have not already done so join Krisflyer. Singapore Airlines awards programme, well worth it.

Dunno about exact, but in Economy I can safely say that it’s actually quite comfortable for Hong Kong-Singapore-Manchester.
Excellent service, really top notch, video on demand and all that. Really great 😀
Roasted duck and oil fried noodles for breakfast at 36,000 feet. Only thing that would have made it better is if it was being served to me in the flight deck
