Air Wales New Routes???

Air Wales have the following listed on their booking system:

MANCHESTER
WATERFORD
RENNES BRITTANY
PARIS BEAUVAIS

Are these more new routes or system problem.

ACTUAL ROUTES LISTED ARE:

MANCHESTER-RENNES, PLYMOUTH
WATERFORD-RENNES
RENNES- JERSEY, CARDIFF, MANCHESTER
PARIS BEAUVAIS- CARDIFF

These look alot like Aer Arann routes
Is it a retaliation since Aer Arann launched CWL-DUB and ORK?

I think WOW would hold their own if 6G and RE did merge, but they would find it more difficult to expand at CWL and would probably find it nearly impossible to get a foothold in the Irish market.

It was actually myself that suggested a takeover or merger might be on the cards when RE & 6G both announced CWL -BHD – I e-mailed RE before Xmas and received a reply today stating that fares on the route were being finalised and should be available for booking at the beginning of January – as 6G’s fares are already bookable, it seems that, at this stage, both are planning to operate the route.

Of course, in this industry, things can change overnight – as they say, only time will tell – one thing is for sure, a merger would seem to make perfect sense – the resultant competition would present Air Southwest with a real headache!

Oh jesus! I think they are just being downright bloody minded trying to muscle in on Air Southwests teritory. Air wales are always threatened by competition, and instead of facing up to it and trying to beat it, they try to scare it by doing the same back to them. Only, what makes commercial sense to the competition, doesn’t make sense for Air Wales, so they end up losing every time. Putting all ORK flights via Newquay just to try and establish a presense at one of WOWs bases is just plane idiotic, nobody wants to fly from NQY to PLH or EXT, its too short a distance, and having to go via NQY to ORK won’t do anything for that route either.

I would like to see Air Wales operate:

Cardiff to: Plymouth
London Gatwick
Leeds Bradford
Newcastle
Aberdeen
Jersey
Belfast City
Dublin
Knock
Cork
Rennes
Paris Beauvais
Brussels

Plymouth to: Cardiff
Newcastle
Dublin
Paris Beauvais

Exeter to: Cork

Newquay to: Cork

I like all of these routes this is a great route concept!!. You should e-mail them this or something and see what they reply and maybe they will use it for future refernce to new routes! 😀
Also i agree with your comment’s 🙂

PLH-ORK IS BOOKABLE AGAIN

But it stops in Newquay. It’s basically a positioning flight with tickets for sale. Thats what they did with CWL-NWI. Even Air Wales arent stupid enough to think that enough people are going to make the effort to fly from PLH-NQY-ORK to make it commercially viable. People will just fly direct form EXT instead. This flight is just to help claw back some of the fuel costs.

If they do merge, Aer Arann would be the dominant partner. Air wales don’t have the cash- they haven’t made a profit since they srated 5 years ago. Roy Thomas has kept them afloat

Has Air Wales made an official annoncement about these new routes?

I really hope that Aer arann does NOT take over Air Wales!

Why do you not want Aer Arann to take over wales? In my opinion it will be beneficial in keeping air wales alive, and they might actually end up sticking to some decent routes as opposed to ditching them at the end of each season

This is really weird. All the routes are there on the booking facility and you can actually book & theres flight numbers and everything so I think these routes must be going ahead. However, when you go onto destinations & timetables loads of routes have gone! Also MAN- Rennes is apparently full right thru April?! They really need to get a new website designer/management company. This ones useless.

Air Wales, Aer Arann and Air Southwest are all in the same cut-throught market of regional air services to and from the south Wales and the southwest of England. Naturally things are going to get bloody, but there seems to be more to this than meets the eye. When Aer Arann announced CWL-DUB & BHD, and Air Wales announced EXT & NQY-ORK, someone here suggested a possible takeover by Aer Arann of Air Wales. I poo pooed the idea, I thought it was too hasty and it was just a bit competition between the two airlines. Now however, things have changed. Air Wales has severed ties with bmibaby on all but one route. In recent weeks they have slashed fares on a number of routes, coincidently to fit better into Aer Aranns sort of price bracket. They and RR have announced the Irish routes mentioned, and now a number of routes show up on their website that look very much like Aer Arann destinations. Whats more, they have not denied the existence of these upcoming services or blamed it on system errors. Instead they have left the door wide open, and not promised anything. Now, it all fits and Aer Arann taking over Air Wales seems highly likely to me. There would be minimal changes needed; both airlines operate the same aircraft, similar routes. The fact that Air Wales is supposedly Wales’ “national airline” doesn’t really matter. Ireland and Wales are both Celtic nations and have always held very close ties. Celtic Air or Celtline, something like that, would suit both airlines perfectly. What do we all think?

Another Update!

I was looking at prices on EXT-ORK and it says via Newuay:

Now it seems the EXT-ORK and NQY-ORK are being merged into EXT-NQY-ORK!!

Also Paris Beauvais is now back on the booking system!!

Well, i’m part of Air Wales Virtual and I reckon with Air Wales Virtual the short lived venture (is it me or is there a general feeling this will be their last christmas) will have difficulty keeping up with the routes that they do and don’t serve
