My Travel Group Financial results 05

Hi

Just been writing an essay for my business degree, came across this in case anyones interested. The My Travel Group made a profit of 55.2 million. All divisions made a profit with the exception of the UK (-29.5 million) – however this was a 48% improvement on last year. Looks like their financial troubles are behind them.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

Group operating profit* increased by £42.3m to £55.2m in the year compared to a
pro forma** profit of £12.9m in the comparable prior 12 month period (13 months
to October 2004: operating loss of £17.5m).
• UK operating loss* reduced by 48% to £29.5m from a pro forma loss of £57.0m in
the prior year (13 months to October 2004: loss of £85.3m).
• Northern Europe achieved another record performance, with operating profit* in
the year of £63.6m compared with a pro forma profit of £45.9m in the prior year
(13 months to October 2004: £48.5m).
• North America reported an operating profit* of £17.5m compared with a pro
forma profit of £17.5m in the prior year (13 months to October 2004: £12.1m).
• Loss on ordinary activities before tax reduced to £18.3m compared with a pro
forma loss of £153.4m in the prior year (13 months to October 2004: loss of
£190.3m)

It will be killing MyTravel to increase the seat pith up to 31″. But to push it up to 33″ i think that would finish some of the directors off. Which in turn would not be a bad thing.

Hi,

Not sure about those A320s? However, along with a revamp of MyTravel Airways Premier Gold Service this year, from November 2006, standard seat pitch on long haul A330-200s services will be increased to 31″ – the same as British Airways.

MyTravel UK

i am sure it wouldnt hurt to crank it upto 33″ give some serious competition to FCA.

Where did you hear about the a320’s? Iwouldnt be surprised if in the long run they start to use the lcc’s to operate the short haul flights.

They have just announced the loss of another 2 A320’s so eventually if they carry on what planes will they have to fly these medium routes.

Also it appears that My Travel are set to concentrate more on medium/long haul routes.

I am not suprised at all…its because of the competition from the low-cost carriers.

I heard a rumour that First Choice Airways were going to reduce their European routes served by lo-co’s because they just can’t compete! But it still means they will continue to fly to Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, and the Canary Islands! 😀

Also it appears that My Travel are set to concentrate more on medium/long haul routes. “Transitioned more of our flying from short haul to medium and long haul“. All those posts a while back about my travel ceasing to carry out long haul operations are unfounded so basically we’ll still be seeing the cool A330 at manchester for a long while yet!
