BBC London Reporting that BAA is switching the runways to Mixed-mode operations as opposed to the current system of one runway landing the other for take offs switching at 3,

Apparently this will result in 1000 extra flights per week, but people are now lobbying for its complete closure

EDIT – I agree, they really need to relocate to an empty area and start again,
