Just starting with these two that I am really really happy with. More will come later, but right now I can not be bothered. Long trip + working day tomorrow = bed.
Special note to LBARULES, you where completely utterly and totally right about the hotel. Next time I ever doubt you, please remind me kindly of the Britannia hotel. More details tomorrow.

I think it’s time someone set up a photo site for the more artistic aircraft photos. Sometimes I can’t believe some of the reasons for rejecting great pictures like those.

Did you try to upload it centering not the fuselage, but the fuselage and tail as well? Perhaps if you do that you are more succesfull.

I get annoyed with the screeners choice thing in general. That is probably one of the most inconsistent parts of the site. Especially when almost anything uploaded from SXM finds itself with that label.
The attatched photo got rejected twice for not being centred in the frame, I still can’t work out what’s wrong with it. Double standards springs to mind..

Tell me about it!

Great shots Pete! Really like the 2nd sunset one in the first couple.
JP.net seem to have been becoming very inconsistent lately with their screening. I try my hardest to upload quality shots, and I often end up having to appeal anything that’s slightly different to a normal boring angle.
That’s very true Dan – some bad shots get on, then better quality one’s get rejected etc it all depends on the screener really. I uploaded earlier tonight and it was ‘In Screening’ all the way till the end then a barrage of reasons for rejection! 😮
Why they kept it all the way only to reject it for the number of reasons is beyond me – Pete’s shot that was reject should of been accepted though.

I do believe the standards have gone up, but I do not believe they are impossible to meet. In particular for screeners choise the bar has been placed higher. I personally would have expected/hoped either of these pics (or even both) to get choosen, but alas. The 747 was cropped quite a bit from the original that was shown above so as to avoid a bad_distance rejection.
And this was even rejected for being too far away. While I agree it is far away, personally I find it adds because this way I can include the sun. Now I can not, and without the sun the photo is not really that worthwhile in my opinion. More luck next time.
However, my biggest hitter (11824 hits since may 9th and still counting) has not been a screeners choise, so in the end it makes little difference regardless.

I agree with you there, i try my best to try and find different angles etc. but end up with ‘bad angle’

Smells like Screener´s Choice to me
That’s what I thought too, the screeners did not agree though. The concorde shot was accepted, the sunset shot in the thread opener was rejected for bad_distance. An appeal did not help either.
Perhaps more luck with the 747 suset shot? Although I would have to crop it tighter then I had hoped to prevent another bad_distance.

Thansk for all the kind words!
I don’t know how you people dont get shifted from that area next to the ned of 24L, if we went that close at Newcastle they’d have our heads.
Difference of mentality. At some airports the local police know how to distinguish between a spotter and Osama. At other airports they do not. There are quite a few airoprts where the police is actually pleased to have spotters, as it means an extra pair of eyes to control the perimeter. AMS and MAN being the best known airports, but a lot of small airports work with the same principle.

If you’d be so kind to arrange for a flight ticket and limo pick-up I will gladly consider it.
Consider it?! Gladly accept if I did! 😀
Nah it’s understandable, I have yet to get over to AMS! Ahhh well soon….
