Didn’t Saddam’s brother flee to London some time ago, as well?

Yes, Rafik Khalifa’s whole empire collapsed. Nothing actually came out about his fall though did it ? I think there are a lot of conspiracy theories… He is in London now I believe.

Rather more sinister, by all accounts. Khalifa being a purpose designed money-laundering entity (with cover as an airline) has been mooted in a few bars!

Obviously I cannot support this, but the strength of hearsay does suggest there is more than might immediately meet the eye.

Mongu, you just cant say that algeria was a terrorist country. It was a country with a civil war. Thats not the same. And the BA reaction was an overreaction….silly !

Saab, Khalifa disappeared totaly and the few ATRs will fly for Air ALgerie.

Are you kidding ? What the dozens of people killed in PAris in several bombings in 1995? Isn’t it terrorism?

OK, I’ll refine my syntax.

Algeria was a country with a world famous terrorist problem. A lot of the terrorism was directed against French interests. In that light, CDG was obviously at risk.

Happy?

BA were concerned about the threat from terrorism as far as I can remember. Alegeria at the time was a terrorist country. In that context it is justifiable for Air Algerie to be segregated and any airline forced to operate next door would be annoyed about it!

ORY is actually handling Domestic Flights in AF even if some domestic routes are served from CDG too.

Carabean routes as well as La Reunion Island are French territories and therefore considered as Domestic flights

Why do a lot of the Caribbean and North African AF flights go from Orly instead of CDG? Plus due to historical links, what are the actual airlinks to Algeria like in terms of destinations, frequency etc?

Greek ,

Actually it’s in CDG1. Air Algerie moved there mid-90’s and it’s correct BA was pissed with that. However I don’t buy the idea that they would drop Paris route.

If I was the authorities of ORY or CDG, whichever of the 2 it was, I would have called their bluff. It would have been BA’s loss, on such a lucrative route.

I remember back in 94-ish BA threatened to pull out of Paris, because the authorities made them use gates next to Air Algerie.
