The subject is about Austin motors production of military wares in a “down memory lane” type thing at Longbridge.I believe the photo was taken on Grovelly lane.I am also led to believe that road was widened in places so the aircraft could be taken to Elmdon for assembley and flight test.
Just thought is was worth sharing.

The image of the fuselage on the low-loader is in the Ian Allan ‘Stirling At War ‘ book. The caption says “On occasions, to suit production requirements, Stirling fuselage sections were shipped from stranraer on the UK mainland to Larne in Northern Ireland for completion at Belfast. One of the first loads lost its DF loop, radio aerial and mid upper turret under the stone arches that span the Larne-Carrickfergus-Belfastroad at Magheramorne. Thereafter these components were sent over packed safely inside the fuselage. Even so, MAP low loaders often had to be dragged under the arches with tyres deflated to allow safe passage. Note the Monica aerial beneath the rear turret of this Austin built Mk 111 LK593, en route to Marson Green in 1944”.
The image is credited to the Rover Group.

The Stirling picture is well known, I have it in two books I think, I’ll check when I get home but IIRC it is captioned along he lines of dispersed production, but I’ll take a look later.

Not quite sure I follow the question or initial post though, like Pagen01 says, what is it about ?

Lanzarote is one of the best places for getting close, there is a fence there (new one which is a real pain!) but if your careful you can get photos without showing it.

At ACE you can get low as they fly over you, to the left of where the pic was taken, just after the runway is a walkway and they fly very low overhead. Almost scary when your under a big jet.

Yup, some great photos. We’re borrowing a digital camera at the moment, a fairly decent Sony one, so I’m hoping to get up to Heathrow for an hour or two with it in the next few days!

I like those. The backgrounds are stunning and certainly add something to the image.
