Hi all, i was thinking the other day (hard to believe i know!), and was wondering who your favourite airline was, taking into account service, livery, history, safety, delays, routes, etc.
p.s how bad are air 2000? i fly with them in july, and i aren’t a frequent flyer. with a lack of knowledge about planes, so im happy for you to put me right on them now ive found a good forum.:D

My mum and sister experienced Excel Airways last July on a flight from Gatwick to Larnaca. They said the top notch 737-800s were top notch, leather seats all round and friendly crew! What more could you ask for?
Plus they bought me a snap-together model! :p

I have flown with Air 2000 a few times and they are pretty efficient.Cabin crew now have pink uniforms, stewards as well.
I have now flown twice with Excel and have been very impressed.

So we like JMC, BA ,Air 2000 if they would give decent leg room!
When you pay an extra £100 or £200 for extra legroom, you find yourself getting what real airlines offer in economy.

You can’t exactly expect ‘ample’ legroom on charter airlines. Not really what they’re known for.

Further to my rushed posting this a m as I was just going to work, Air 2000 are very safety conscious and all 757 have Rolls Royce engines( very nice and quiet)it was just the abysmal leg room that annoyed us . Im 5 10 and my knees were right against the seat in front the poor guy in the row in front of us was over 6’and had a very miserable 5 hr flight to Cyprus !!

I think you can experience surly cabin attendants on any given flight on any airline. You just so happened to get one on that particular flight. I flew UA/NZ from LAX to SYD via AKL last July, and I upgraded with UA on the LAX-AKL portion using my miles, but that didn’t carry over to the NZ AKL-SYD portion. Well, the NZ check in agents saw that I had been flying business class, on the first flight, so they went ahead and put me on business for the AKL-SYD portion, out of the kindness of their heart. They didn’t have to do that, but they did. Now, did that same thing happen on the return from SYD-AKL, even though I was again in the business class cabin from AKL-LAX? No, it didn’t. Nor did I expect it to. But it was nice of them to do it the first time around. These people were definitely not surly.

I guess you’re right. It’s unfair to make an opinion on an airlaine just based on one bad experience.

I think alot of the time what makes a flight good or bad is the attitude of the cabin crew. When I flew Air New Zealand I invariably came across surly cabin attendants who were often rude to passengers. The cabin staff on Icelandair were always fine, but I had a really bad experience last time I flew with them relating to a faulty aircraft, and I said I would never fly with them again. With Sabena I always experienced professional, friendly staff and clean aircraft, I always enjoyed my flights with them, though I understand that others did have problems with them, often relating to lost luggage. I say the same about Air France, all my experiences with them have been positive and I would fly with them again.

My favourite of all time was Sabena. My current favourite is VLM, I have not flown with SN Brussels yet but I am sure that they will be excellent. I also like Finnair and Air France have been good when I’ve flown with them. BA were okay and so were Cyprus Airways and Iberia. I wouldn’t fly Icelandair or Air New Zealand again.

Nice! Was it UA905 on the outbound, by any chance? Also, was it a 777 or a 763? I’m glad to see that United is getting some love by someone (2 members no less!) other than me.
Yeah, it was UA906 and departed LHR at about 13:30hrs, service provided by N774UA, a Boeing 777-200 and inbound was a 767-300 N647UA which departed JFK at about 08:30hrs arriving at 20:30hrs local time in the UK.

For emotional reasons, Sabena, and now SN (Will fly with them soon 🙂 )
Else, BA is nice on intra european flights ,and in the German market, Deutsche BA is good, but now they behave as a low fares.
And for the fun GermanWings. Never laughed that much in a plane than when I flew with them.

Je ne sais quoi?
Literally, it means ‘I don’t know what’.
it’s like if there’s something that makes whatever is being talked about (in this case UA) stick out from the crowd, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is that makes it stick out.
