Hi all.

Just to clarify who I am, I am A330Crazys Brother, previously known a GFox. When we did the forum change over I was unable to log back on as GFox due to email problems etc.

So hi all! 😀

My Icelandair flights were on the following types Boeing 727-100 (TF-FLG), Fokker 27 (do not remember registrations but there were four flights), Fokker 50 (TF-FIS), Boeing 737-400 (TF-FIA, TF-FIB, TF-FIC (a real ***** that plane) and TF-FID. All the flights by 737 were okay except for ones in FIC. My last Icelandair flight was on that bloody thing and after that experience I vowed I would never fly with the airline again. The damned thing broke down as it was heading for the runway to fly back to Glasgow from Keflavik. We spent half an hour in our seats whilst the thing was “repaired” and then I experienced my worst ever take off on any aircraft. The cabin crew were in tears and we sat and prayed (yes, we prayed!!) that the damned thing would actually make it to Glasgow. It did, and we were greeted by the airport’s fire engines as we landed. That was my worst flight ever, the only time I have been terrified on any aircraft and I vowed I would never again fly with that bloody awful airline. If it meant I never went back to Iceland then so be it.
I had never had a pleasant flight in TF-FIC, but that last one really sealed it for me as far as Icelandair was concerned.

Are they not though supposed to offer quite cheap fares across the Atlantic via Keflavik? If for example, you flew LHR-KEF-JFK it would work out quite good? I suppose it must be a good way to support so many American destinations from Iceland.

I always found Icelandair too expensive to justify.
And no other airline flies there.

£1,000 rtn Economy for a short flight!

Yes they are Hand. I flew with them back in 99′ from LHR. Stayed in iceland for a week. Flew up on a 757-200, not my fav aircraft, but exceptionally clean inside and out! And to me the service on board was impecable!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Comet, yes I am a fan of Iceland, though only having been there once… I loved it! I flew with Iceland air, which to me is the best airline out there today.
