I have no doubt it was a great airport, Kabir. I was just providing insight as to why it closed down to Ren Frew.

Absolutely brilliant (although posted before) shot from Kai Tak!

Yes but still it was a great airport……atleast from point of photographing.

Kai Tak was closed because they just needed a much more modern facility. They only had 7 air bridges and from what I’ve heard, there was a nasty sewage type smell that was very prevalent when you would disembark the aircraft at ramp level. It was way beyond its capacity, and only had the one runway.

Hey Kabir,
I hope it will be used for a driving range, I need somewhere else to hit my balls.

Ditto on that T5!
Kabir’s night pic is great. 🙂

Kai Tak will be used as a golfing range i think.
By: Ren Frew - 6th May 2003 at 10:54
Was Kai Tak closed because of these kinds of approaches or was it just down to the need for a bigger more modern facility ?

Thanx Sky 🙂

I flew right over it the other day. Part of it has been used as a Go cart track, I think that’s closed down now. A bowling alley as well but mainly dug up now. I think it’s a sorry sight seeing it in ruins.

BTW , what is Kai Tak used for now?
