KLM, KLM UK & KLM Cityhopper

As the UK brand has now been merged with the dutch cityhopper, are we likely to see new and different aircraft flying into our cities?

What is the fleet like of Cityhopper? Presumably F50/70/100?

Also, I wondered what the flexibility of the fleet was. If an F100 on a UK route went tech, would we ever get the situation where a regular KLM 733 operated the flight? Or is there never a cross over between KLM and KLM Cityhopper?

As far as I know, the Fokker 70’s that operated from Bristol were replaced with Fokker 100’s not so long ago in an attempt to boost available capacity.. i’ll check it out again later!

Yes, I saw one on Sunday at Heathrow, but I haven’t seen one for a while before that.

Are the 50’s still operating into the U.K.? I know ours has gone and been replaced by an F100. Do any F70’s to AMS – UK runs?

to be fair i never even thought about that! I presume that it could be a little too large to replace the 50s n 70s, but not the 100s – but again there would be no fleet commonality with the rest of the fleet

P.S. Welcome onboard Peter!

Thank EGNM, but I am not new. I haven’t posted in ages because my account did not work anymore. I think I have been using a wrong pas word or something. Perhaps I may have even insulted someone and I got deleted, who knows! Then again, this ain’t a.net so that does not happen here! 😀

Anyway, I now got a new account so I am back!

Well the obvious Fokker replacement would be an ERJ-170 or -190 I should have thought. Some routes could probably stand an upgrade to 737 anyway.

well i’m sure they will be happy to stick Dutch if the Rekkof line ever starts up again – F70 first then possably F100.

As for other options, KLM Excel used the E145, and these soon ended up in Cameroon, wonder whos decision this was.

Also i understand that 4 BAe 146-300s will be returned to KLM shortly from Buzz as part of the Ryanair deal – will these be kept as a backup fleet or for ops into LCY? Will be interesting to see what happens to them!

There was talk about 12 months ago of them returning when the B733s came into KLMUK service from LBA, but we got the F100 bak!

Heres a pic of a 146 in the KLM Livery – a great liv on a very aesthetically pleasing a/c!

P.S. Welcome onboard Peter!

Well, KLM wanted to replace them with the FD728. Now FD went down and noone seems to be interested in restarting the 728 line. For the moment KLM will have to stick with the Fokkers.

all the UK a/c are to go Dutch PH reggied. We’ve had a couple of KLM subs with B733 and Trasavia B733s in the past – not sure about now tho…
