Hi all,
A couple of things – first for Wys…
From jethros: – THE TWO B757-3CQ’s GJMAA/B, MAY BE TRANSFERRED TO CONDOR AS PART OF AN EQUIPMENT SWAP
ARRANGEMENT.
i thought condor were putting 6 B753s into storage – why would they take extra a/c?

Mytravel got their latest A321 the other day…

yeah, but only on the 75/76, and wasn’t that a cost cutting excercise as they were developed together?
After all, none of their aircraft since have had commonality…

Boeing were actually the pioneers of the common type rating but failed to pursue it further before Airbus picked up the mantle.

so now we have an idea why companies such as BA, MyTravel, BY, Air 2000, AA operate both varients – must be easier for the crewing roster

The 767 is automatically put on your license when you qualify for the 757 (and vice versa) but you need to do a couple of days ground school and a couple of sim details before then doing a few sectors of line training before getting out on the line with it.

I know the named the John Lennon aircraft, but I’m sure most that have gone in for repaint have not had their names reapplied.
If the 767’s come in Wys, that’ll make you eligible to fly them right? Because of the same ****-pit. Does this mean you could start doing long-haul?
Interesting point you make about the -300 being bumpy at the back – I can quite imagine that actually.

I flew AA to Las Palmas and back yesterday. The 300’s are nice because they are new but personally I’d rather be in a 200. The fuselage flexes alot in turbulence which can make for a bit of an uncomfortable ride down the back and there is only 1 toilet outside the flightdeck rather than 2 (these things are important to me)! For performance it is in the heaviest/fastest category (cat D, 1 higher than a 752 or a 330) which makes it very interesting when operating into challenging island locations. Usually Cat D aeroplanes operate from major capital cities ILS to another ILS under radar control rather than flying procedurally maintaining their own separation from terrain with poor air traffic control.
We have not been told anything about the 300s going to Condor, however I have been hearing rumours of Condor 767s coming to TCX. After all our 330 leases were negotiated during expensive times and come up for renewal this winter.

Pembo sorry you are going to have another SSV up there for the summer but dont know which one yet ?

Perhaps they just rename the same aircraft each year?
By: A330Crazy - 28th April 2003 at 22:39
Its a nice idea by BY, but what happens after a few years when they run out of aircraft to name? :p
By: EGNM - 28th April 2003 at 17:05
well Pembo it was only last year AF was named John lennon – after the beatles artist, and the airport it was to be based at!

I’m looking forward to seeing more A321’s in MYT colours!
Does anyone know what MYT aircraft we @ MME will get this year. Please don’t tell me its going to be another Skyservice A320! It’d be nice to see something different.
I saw a JMC 753 not too long ago and its not until you see it in the flesh that you realise how long they are. The 752s already look ‘too long’ IMO, the 753’s just look as if they’re going to snap. Wys – have you flown a 753 yet? Are there any differences from the pilot’s point of view?
Good idea by BY – I heard that they were stopping naming aircraft – so this is welcome.

What a great idea – I was recently made employee of the season in my part time job. I get £150 for being the best (!!) and my name on a plaque. Having my name on an aircraft sounds even better though!
