MYT B752s + fleet plans

Hi all,

Just been looking on Jethros and see G-LCRC has gone back to its lessor – an MYT B752 on lease. Just wondering what the fleet plans are with them as they operate a fairly diverse fleet – here are my thoughts

A320/1 – Mainstay of the fleet – this is where future growth is to be seen for the short haul element

A330 – 4 operated. The mainstay of the longhaul fleet – will replace the B763 as finances dictate

B752 – 6 operated As far as i know they own the first four B752s they got – all -225s the desert rats bought from storage after the collapes of Eastern in the early 1990s. I think these have been a very usuaful a/c but i can see them disposing of the fleet in favour of A321 type commonality within the next 5 years. G-LCRC already gone, a -28A.

B763 – 3 operated. Hmm – no PTVs, the new rage of airtravel. These a/c aren’t that old, been ordered by the company in the mid 90s but lacking the facilities of other A330 a/c they currently operate. I can see these a/c disappearing shortly soon as well as the Danish branch also operates A330s and offers a bit more flexablility between the 2 companies

DC10 – Whooooo old buggers. Flown it in its ideal capacity as a go anywhere standby a/c, but really speeking it’s all that they are worth. They are expensive to operate compared to the likes of a 330, 3 crew flightdeck and not got the comfort levels of the Airbus fleet – will be sad to see them go though!

just my points of view – what do others say??

Right fonud a DC-10 database so here goes:

G-TDTW=Western,Delta,Scanair,American,Scanair,Sun Country and Premiair.

G-BYDA=Singapore,Wardair,Canadian,Minerve,Aom,Taesa,
Dominicana De Aviacion,Taesa and Premiair.

G-DPSP=Western,Delta,Scanair and Premiair.

G-TAOS=Western,Delta,Scanair,Premiair,Skyservice USA and Premiair.

Thanks mate. I know that two went thru the merger between Conair and Scanair which as you know resulted in the creation of Premiair onwards to Airtours. Over to you.

Not too sure on that one.Airtours got the DC-10’s off premier.Where they were before that im not sure but theres a good chance they were at SAS before that.I do know that the DC-30 has had many homes including Singapore Airlines.Ill ask around and see if anyone at work knows any more ?

Would I be right in thinking that the DC10s operated by My Travel were once those flown by SAS/Scanair in the 80s? If so then they were the ones that I used to load control on ITs thru STN. It would be nice to think that they are still around.

Yeah she was built to company spec.It was a real shame when she got smashed up down in POP.She was only 4 months old and the damage came to over £7 million. It was touch and go weather the Boeing engineers were going to write her off or not.Glad they didnt its a good machine.

The only time I;ve ever flown on a DC-10 was with Airtours and just as you say it was called out from Manchester to Lyon on standby after our Monarch A300 failed to turn up from Gatwick due to going tech.
I was pretty impressed with it at the time (and this was only Feb. last year), but there was a distict lack of PTVs or any real form of in flight entertainment. But for such an old bird she was very graceful.

hiya – GPIDS came into Leeds 2 days ago so it can’t be at lasham on any long term basis.

Softlad – cheers for that – i thought the desert rats would be the most likely 752s to be kept – what about the 752 they got new G-WJAN?

Hi Preston. At the moment the plans for the 757’s are to keep the desert rats for now but G-CCMY is going at the end of the year.Probably to be replaced with a 321 ? As for the DC-10’s not too sure at the moment. The plan before the cash problem was to keep them up to the end of 2005.But as we own them all they are cheap to operate as no leasing fee.Even though they drink far too much.As for the rest of the fleet i dont think there are any plans for change apart from the 320/321 rollover that is going on at the moment.Hope this helps.

Regards

Lyndon.

Their 767s look older on the inside and like you say, don’t really compare to the A330 when looking at what is available on board; personal TVs and below deck lavatories on the A330.

Don’t get me wrong though, the 763 is a beautiful aircraft! 😎
