Nice surprise. I didn’t expect to meet that lady in BCN.
Let’s share with you folks.

I ‘ve only flown it twice, both times with Qantas.
The seat pitch felt much the same as the 744 I deplaned from 48 hours previously. The seat width was the same too, but with the advantage of a 2-3 seating config. The 2-abreast seats are more pleasant to fly in.

Nice pic Keltic. For some reason, your pic shows just how small this aircraft is.

One in my cityยดs airport after arriving from Madrid. I have flown it many times. Nothing impressive; like a brand new DC-9. More silent, more refitted but Aebael ones are cramped with seats.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about Olympic! I have actually seen one of these up at LGW — SX-BOA.
Cheers Saab. ๐

Olympic Aviation operate the 717 daily into LGW in the afternoon from Thessalonika, Greece’s second city. AEBal I do not think operate the 717 into the UK, I think it is mainly on Spanish domestic.

Olympic and AEBal (sub of Spanair) are the only european operators i believe

Apparently, only 10 airlines currently operate the 717, Qantas have quite a few of the things and so, the chances of seeing one of these lovely little aircraft at Heathrow is quite remote.

Do any ever operate flights into LGW or LHR even? Are there plans to in the near future?

Oops, it posted twice, ignore this one.

These seem to be getting about a bit more now, I was surprised to see one in Lanzarote a couple of weeks ago, EC-HUZ.
Makes a nice change, they are pretty rare in Europe!

They’re certainly nice aircraft to fly on.
