My Travel may be grounded in cash crisis

Just heard on the news this morning that the holiday charter airline is teetering on the brink of being grounded as it’s share price continues to plummit and it’s finances worsen. More to follow.

SOFTLAD – what I said then was in the heat of the moment, I admit I went through a bad patch on the forum and I’ve moved on and put it behind me. I have no grudges against anyone or any airline and I want to make that clear.

No disrespect taken Selsport, Just cause I work for the Beeb it doesn’t make me like journalists any more than the average person. That said ythe story was covered this morning by the business correspondent who has his own remit.

I’ve been watching News 24 off and on most of the day and the story has failed to resurface. Perhaps they got their wires crossed this morning.

The grounding threat seemed to be coming from BAA or CAA, I was just waking up at the time so perhaps I’m the one that’s confused. Maybe there’s an issue relating to outstanding airport fees or something. It wouldn’t be the first time BAA have impounded planes to get their money.

BTW Selsport… are you still planning to make the Manchester meet in July. I’ve got my tickets already ?

The press always seem to be on about one airline or another going to the wall. As far as the press goes (no disrespect Renfrew and others) believe it when it happens. Most of the big airlines and travel companies are covered by atol and abta so your money should be safe. I thought the same when I heard about United and I flew with them and it was one of the best flights and service yet.

Comet – check with your travel agent but I think you should be protected by ATOL or ABTA.

Agree, this doen’t help one bit.

Comet – You should be alright, one report I read or heard somewhere said that the government should intervene and compensate peoples holidays if they do go under.

I know one flight doesn’t mean a lot but when I flew with them to ACE a couple of weeks ago there were only about 3 seats free on the A321 boths ways, seemed to be going OK.

Must have been a lack of ‘real’ news available so some padding may have been required!

The report was on Breakfast (business) News on BBC-1 this morning. It doesn’t appear on their news website though ?

I am worried by this – not because I am flying with MYT but because the holiday company I booked my holiday with is part of the MyTravel Group. I would be devastated if I lost this holiday because it’s nine days in Belgium, in Mechelen, with VLM, and no other company but Belgian Travel (part of Bridge Travel) offers this combination.

Im sure you’ll be ok

Bloody press again. The shares have been stable for at least 5 months now and are not still plumbiting. The bank is happy for now with the companys finances and bookings are up over 11% on this time last year.Im sure if the press dont have anything true to write they just make it up.Very frustrating reading things like this as i know its not true. Also do they not know what damage things like this do putting off potential customers !
