Guys, save all the publicity talk for the other thread, no need for 2 of the same. As far as painting it silver goes, they couldn’t do that if they wanted to fly supersonic. AF doesn’t apply, since they’re colours are all white anyhow (even though this can be debated at times, even on Concorde!), but why do you think BA’s Concorde’s never donned the blue and grey scheme? Because the paint would just peal right off when they hit supersonic. The only time the Concorde was painted in a non-white scheme, was when Pepsi chartered it about 6 years ago, some of you might remember. It was painted all blue, except for the wings. Those flights were all flown at subsonic speeds, or else that blue paint would have come right off. The reasoning behind this is, white doesn’t get as hot as any other color because it reflects the sun’s rays, it doesn’t aborb them.

Who cares if it is publicity stunt by Virgin ? As long as she carries on flying a lot of people will be happy. The aircraft has a few years in it yet so let it keep going if someone is prepared to pay for it.

IMO they should not goto Virgin….. it will be seen as another publicity act by virgin…and the legend is not made for that.

And really if in some circumstances theyt decide to scrap the aicrafts except 1 or 2…… the whole aviation world should go on strike.

I think Virgin deserve to get these wonderful aircraft. It seems tragic that they could go to waste at such short notice.

Obviously, being put on display at museums isn’t really wasting them, but they’ve still got some life left in them and should fly until they really are at the end of their careers.

Virgin has claimed that they will ensure all flights are completely full and to do this, they’ll lower the price! We could all afford to fly in such luxury.

However, the way I see it is that British Airways (not familiar with AF) like to have a classic approach to on board facilities and service, compared to Virgin Atlantic which likes hi-tech travel, couldn’t bear it if the passenger had nothing to do. Concorde is an exceptional aircraft, one of it’s kind and one that has been incredibly successful in it’s earlier days.

If Virgin should get hold of some of these aircraft, I think to spray them silver like their A340s and 747s would be an act of cruelty. As much I like this scheme, such a “hi-tech” scheme does certainly not work on an aircraft which we have only ever seen in white.

I think the red logo should be applied to a white fuselage.
