The An148 is a Russian twinjet designed to seat 90 to 100 pax in a 5 abreast layout. The first fuselage has recently been completed. First flight is expected end 2003 with a planned in service date of end 2005, first operator expected to be Volga Dnepr airlines. The An 148 shares the same fuselage cross section of the An74-300 although it is longer and the design incorporates a new and advanced wing. The aircraft will be powered by 2 Perm Motors D-365A turbofans and will also be equiped with many Western systems. 4 versions are planned at present all sharing the same fuselage dimensions, trading a combination of different payload to range ratios. Aeroflot and Sibir Airlines both have options on the An148.
