What is "Seat Pitch"?

I’ve been looking into what can be expected when I fly Thai in little over 3 months time.

They offer 34 inches seat pitch compared to charters which offer 29 inches.

Can someone please explain seat pitch to me?

The only thing I want out of Thai, is to ride the 747 – a first time for me!

Sorry but at around 16.00z none of the passengers were ready to sleep at this time.To me it seemed that the crew were on minimum rest on their layover and tired so they just wanted a peaceful cabin and get off to the crew bunks.Fair enough on a night flight but not in the middle of the afternoon. And to top all that off only one film was shown on a 12 hour flight.Might be diffrent now but it it was a hell of a long day for me and the mrs.Theres a lot more but i dont want to babble on.

I compared it to charters which I have flown quite a few of in recent years and them being 29″ and Thai being 34″ is an astounding difference.

Apparently, United have 32 or 33″ and when I flew them in November last year I couldn’t have been more comfortable, plenty of leg room, much more than I was used to!

34 is really good.

BA have either 30 or 31, which isn’t terrific…34 is only a small amount more, but it does make a difference on a long flight.

Thanks for your help guys, obviously it should be a comfortable flight, 34″ seemed to be amongts the highest out of the airlines listed in the brochure.

I think Ren Frew is right. Seat pitch is the distance between a fixed point on a seat to the corresponding point on the seat in front.

I think between 32 and 34 inches is average for longhaul economy class. Enjoy your trip on Thai.

I think it’s the distance between where your back touches the seat and where your knees touch the seat in front ?

Basically to do with the leg room whatever way you look at it.
