We booked our tickets…the flights from India are heavily booked…and the day after we booked our tickets they call us and say we have to pay all the money by the following day or the tickets will be cancelled……since when did they start doing this?

Kabir ,
Did you fix that or did you find a plan B ?
By: KabirT - 7th May 2003 at 11:04
Well if they did that 78 hrs thing they should have told us because we didnt book in that scheme.

if your booking certain types of fares with an airline direct then you have to pay within about 48-72 hours.
its the same with EK, QF, and every other airline i have ever flown.
its nothing new for this to happen, if you book then you have to be prepared to pay at the airlines deadline.

I’ve always had to pay at the point of sale in the UK, regardless of travel date or when the rickets were issued. Maybe it is different in India. All the online travel agents like Expedia and Opodo are the same though.

In the U.S., if you’re purchasing the tickets directly from the airline, you have to pay as soon as the ticket is issued, not when your travel begins, even if it’s 6 months ahead of time. If you go throught a travel agent, there might be different criteria.

This is a nightmare – sorry to hear about it Kabir.
The way I understand it most airlines now want your credit/debit card details before they’ll issue you with tickets. The cash isn’t usually taken until the tickets are issued though.
I have had to pay NWA for my flight tickets to New York and I’m not going until November!
The only I think around this at the moment is to use a travel agent, or, ask for the tickets to be ticketed as late as possible, though they will still ask for your details.

Sorry to hear that Kabir. But AF seem to be a law into their own hands just now. They change the goalposts more than any other airline that I know. I have always vowed that since my hassell with them to JHB I would never fly them again.

I feel really sorry Kabir

Yes…SAS had the best deal, best route etc etc…… they stopped due to no substantial reason…i still have 2 Delhi-Copenhagen free tickets lying with me.
By: yagoceron - 31st March 2003 at 17:53
Have you tried Lufthansa?
It’s the company I use the most to go to Delhi.
The best I tried on that route was SAS but unfortunately they stopped it.
I’ll never understand why there are no more companies flying from Europe to New Delhi when there is such demand.
What are the other options apart from BA?
Virgin? Austrian? and…
