Luggage Losers Revealed In AEA Report

Luggage Losers Revealed In AEA Report :

European airlines have decided to “come clean” over how they rate for punctuality and how often passengers are likely to be separated from their baggage.

The Association of European Airlines has launched a quarterly consumer report which shows who rates the best and worst among its members.

The AEA describes its move as “remarkable” but it comes only after many years of lobbying by consumer groups.

The first data shows that the airline most likely to lose your baggage is Luxair, the Luxembourg carrier. It lost an average of 55.3 bags per thousand passengers. And the best bet for keeping passengers connected to their luggage? Currently it is Turkish Airlines, which failed only once in 2000 journeys.

I think the choice of airline is only half the problem, and the airport is the other half.

BA are usually quite good in my experience, unless you are transitting at LHR in which case they are hopeless. BMI also suffer the LHR blues, and as they are the no. 1 and no. 2 based airlines there, which must indicate something!

An interesting set of results. 55.3 in every thousand compared to what would be 0.5 in every thousand. It’s quite a difference! Good on Turkish Airlines.
