Flying under…..PIC

Being a pilot (not me) and having a camara, makes one take pictures like this. Enjoy it.

RVSM (reduced vertical separation minima – 1000′ vertical separation) has been in operation on the North Atlantic tracks for years. European airspace became RVSM at the beginning of last year and helps us immeasurable by allowing us to fly much closer to the aircrafts optimum level for its current weight (amongst other benefits). It exists between FL290 and FL410.

By the way there is only 1 western jet whose systems are not capable of being upgraded to RVSM standards and yes, it’s the 146!!!

as from last year minimum seperation levels were reduced to 1,000ft from 2,000ft within certain area of airspace, between FL280 and FL460 i think it was – theoretically doubling capacity – and yes when your airbourne they do look extreamly close!

It’ll be zoom, aircraft wouldn’t be allowed to fly quite so close, surely.

Great photo! Are they actually that close, or did the photographer use a zoom?

Lovely photograph.

I saw a similiar air-to-air type shot on Airliners.net last month and the reason I say type is because it wasn’t actually an air-to-air shot but looked much like one – if you understand what I mean

Great pic Keltic. One taken by your friend again? I see this one made it to Airliners.net just as his others did. Great work! 🙂
