US to have access to airlines passenger data

According to an opinion page on the BBC website, the US Customs service now has access to the data on all passengers entering the US, via the reservation and CRM systems of the airlines.

What do you all think?

Personally, I am disgusted and flabergasted at an invasion of privacy and a flagrant big brother attitude.

It is as if various authorities are glad that 9/11 happened, because it gave them an excuse to extend their powers and authorities. I’m not specifically bad mouthing US Customs (I think) but…

So, frankly, big deal if they can see my full itinerary… if they’ve really got nothing better to do, at least it’ll keep them entertained for a few seconds…

It does not really bother me. I can see their point but again it boils down if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about
