Just a different way of finding out where everyone is in the world.
What’s your nearest International airport?
Mine is Heathrow.

I live 15 miles from MAD where I work.
With the building of the new terminal I’m afraid we won’t see the promessed new airport for a long time…

Yes, there is a hill at the end of the runway that all the spotters watch from. Approx. 100 metres from the threshold!
Very sore on the ears!

Welcome Mark L,
Were you at Farnborough 2002? My gran used to live on Ship Lane in Farnborough and I live not too far away in Reading.

I am about 45 miles from LAX. However, I prefer to connect through LAX from my main ‘hometown’ aiport, ONT (Ontario, California, not Canada) which is roughly 3-4 miles from my house.

This looks like a good post to start off on!
I live in Fleet, Hampshire, which is 1 mile from Farnborough (Hardly a BIG airport until every other summer – Eurofighter at 500ft over the house, interesting!)
My nearest big airport is Heathrow, we get the Ockham arrivals and Compton departures over us. We also get some Gatwick and Stansted arrivals too.
Couple that with Blackbushe and Odiham nearby (Although strangely quiet at the moment!) I get a very good view from my garden of all types of aviation, and I am spoilt for choice for weekend visits!

My nearest is SMO (Santa Monica) but the closest international is LAX (Los Angeles).

yep we’ll have to see – LBA needs some more expansion to it now – we have at times full utilistion of stands, and with Jet2 possably wanting to base between 2 and 4 more a/c after a full implimentation of operations) could mean to several more stands been added to the East of the 17 we currently have available.
Our south side work in progress is looking good with the foundations of the new apron and taxiway there coming on ahead of schedule in anticipation of our based BBJ and expansion of Multiflight operations – 2 new hangers as well – exciting times ahead!!!

just like to say that we may be catching up to lba & ncl as the same group that has liverpool is running us for a bit now and they have just announced that they are puting a 20 million development program underway at teesside so look out we could be growing and we should be to
By: EGNM - 18th March 2003 at 17:47
well done!! – yep LBAs pax numbers with MYT are still rising – change from a based A320 with W suppliments this summer to a based B752 with A320 and A321 suppliments from the MYT fleet – hope we’re not taking your pax away !!

Mine too is Teesside, and hey Preston, we now have F100’s on the AMS flights – we’re going up in the world! 😀
Always disappointed not to see Teesside doing as well as NCL and LBA. Thought the low cost boom may come our way but yet again we’re stuck in the middle, boooooo! Maybe our problem is its very easy for us to jump in car and go to Leeds or Newcastle.

Southampton International (cough cough – Eastleigh really) is my closest airport that has international flights (not many though)
Bournemouth (Hurn) is about 35 miles away
Heathrow is 55 miles away
Gatwick is about 80 miles away

Hmmm Teeside… isn’t that the little airport that has a couple of bmi LHR flights a day, a couple of Eastern J32 runs and a KLM UK FK50 run – aka a poor cousen that accepts our diverting E145s when the weathers bad! – btw i’m on about Leeds, and b4 anyone else starts picking on me i kno where the poor cousen to Manchester – were complementary not competing of course 😉

RE: Your nearest BIG airport?
Mine would be Calgary International Airport (CYYC). Not the biggest of the big by any means but we still see quite a few larger aircraft that fly back and forth across the Atlantic. (primarily A330s/340s and the occasional 747.)
Cheers,
Binx
