RE: The best news I’ve heard in a long time!

Actually, I’ve found a picture (can’t post, sorry) in the Trident section of World Aircraft Information files of a Northeast Trident 1, painted in a yellow/white/aluminium scheme. Northeast logo is a different font and the tail logo is different too.

The accompanying text says “Trident 1E-140, Delivered to BKS Air services in March 1969, G-AVYD was one of five TRident 1E’s which were unique in having two overwing exits to permit a high density seating layout of up to 139 seats. In 1970 the airline was renamed Northeast Airlines and operated four brightly painted Tridents known as “Yellowbirds”. G-AVYD was damaged beyond repair in a landing accident at Bilbao in September 1975″.

Wasn’t there a similarly named/colour schemed UK airline in the 70’s & 80’s using Tridents ?

RE: The best news I’ve heard in a long time!

Justplanes e-mailed me back this morning, and here’s what they said.
Just to confuse you alittle more…

The airline is based in Swaziland. The picture was taken in America after emerging from the paint shop.

So its not American or British.

I think two airlines of same name can operate in different countries. North East for eg. can exist in USA and UK…with the same name. I think i am not sure though.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-02-03 AT 10:52 PM (GMT)]I have just done a search on google for Northeast Airlines, and apparently this particular airline has been operating since the 1930’s. Its an American Airline.

So have Justplanes got it wrong? I t will be interesting to see what the reply to my e-mail is. 😛

http://www.airtimes.com/cgat/usb/northeast/logone3.gif

Heres some webpages that contain various info on this airline.

http://www.airtimes.com/cgat/usb/northeast.htm

http://airlines.afriqonline.com/airlines/462.htm — This is the best page.. visit this one!!!! tells you history of airline.

—————————

Or perhaps its under a new management and has been re-launched or something… its just that the airline went under a few years back, but that tristar has the same c/s.

Confused… I am.

RE: The best news I’ve heard in a long time!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-02-03 AT 10:32 PM (GMT)]Well the place where I originally got the information from was Justplanes.com. I have e-mailed them asking if the airlines is to be based in the UK, and if they know of any website showing any info on it too.

According to the news now on justplanes, the airline is already up and running and operating flights. But it doesn’t say to where these flight are operating! 🙁

Oh well, lets I hope I get a positive reply soon. 🙂
