Well the the marshaller’s employer’s insurance at any rate. I think your average wand waver would struggle to pay the repair bill for a 747 and an IL-62!

Marshallers liability unless the flightcrew decided to ignore his commands. There is a huge variance in the quality of marshalling from place to place.

Wys – so there would have been an insurence claim – not on line but following a Marsheller – therefore HIS liablility?

The Asiana 747 continues to fly today, but as for the Il-62 it did remain at Anchorage, complete with the winglet of the 747, until October 1999 when it was scrapped.

RE: Bad day at the office
As well as skidding on the ice the Asiana was being guided onto a stand that was the wrong size for it and the aircraft was not following the yellow line (remember the Iberia A340 thread!).

Geeeez-bad day or what! I think that the Asiana/Aeroflot incident took place at Anchorage with the 747 skidding on ice. The IL62 was still there last I heard minus its engines which were retrieved by SU engineers.
The future is bright-The future is Airbus!

Perhaps wioth the Korean Air Cargo, they’ll learn from their mistakes. Loading cargo into the front of the aircraft first will prevent it flipping up like that!
As for the cargo door that is open and the reckless control of the aircraft which cut off another aircraft’s tail – I don’t know..!! 😀
